K Multiplier
This is the 'innards' of the left pale green vertical tube in the back of the 'tode Shooter photograph. It consists of a Cockcroft Walton multiplier that steps up the output of the "pole pig" transformer beneath to -75 KV via a very high power inverter circuit. The acrylic discs contain the circuitry that provides variable isolated heater current for the cathode and optical isolation to monitor both the heater current and voltage plus the actual X-ray beam current. The right tube contains an identical multiplier with inverted polarity and provides the +75 KV for the anode of the X-ray tube. Both multipliers are immersed in transformer oil during operation.
