28 January
It's been a seriously nice day, got in a couple of rows of snow peas, cleaned out a few beds, and straightened out one of the greenhouses a bit this afternoon. Cookie is spending lots of time away from the pups these days, mostly eating! She's holding pretty steady on 8 pounds a day, it'll peak in a couple of weeks. Of course I'm down to eating rice & beans...

I decided to go attempt to get a pup picture or 3, just about impossible with mama around. She promptly puts them back where they belong so I was stuck trying to photograph the cafe au lait boy by holding him, trying to convince Cookie he wasn't part of my diet, and attempting to see what was on the feeble LCD viewfinder with the sun directly over my shoulder.

             "Kiss me, you fool!"

No, he's not being squeezed at all. I have old, well-used hands and the tendons and veins kinda stand out.

I'm still unsure of paternity, his features are consistant with GSD at this age but I've never had this coloration. One must be cautious of the mouth at this time, proximity to ears, noses, exposed hide evokes a rapid lip-lock!

Cookie convinced me to go put him back. I was having to hold him almost over my head (she was standing on my foot) so I put him with his siblings. Cookie was promptly attacked:

The usual mad scramble to the milk bar!  ...and she was having such a fine time raising hell in the woods until I upset the Way Things Must Be!  If looks could kill, well, you get the idea...
